Lonar Lake, the third largest natural salt-water lake in the world, is located near
Lonar, in
Maharashtra. It is renowned for the Lonar Crater, a bowl shaped depression formed 50,000 years ago by the impact of a huge meteorite. It is the largest and oldest meteoric crater in the world.
The lake has enough fauna surroundings it making it a serene and scenic spot.
There are several temples near the lake known as Yadav Temples, also known as Hemadpanti Temples named after Hemadri. Ramgaya, Vishnu Mandir, Wagh Mahadev, Mora Mahadev/Munglyacha Mandir and Goddess Kamalaja Devia are the temples inside the crater.
