Osmanabad District




Osmanabad District, formerly known as Dharashiv, is situated in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. It is known all over India due to Goddess Tuljabhavani. The town of Osmanabad is the headquarters. Jowar, sunflower, sugarcane and tur are the principal crops. With an area of 7,550 sq km, Osmanabad District has a dry climate with an average rainfall of about 60 cm. The temperature ranges from 12o C to 44o C. Marathi is the official language. The chief crops are jowar, bajra and tur. Bhajan, Keertan and Gondhal are the major folk arts. The main tourist spots include Tuljapur and Naldurg fort.
