Khalapur

Khalapur is a taluk headquarters town situated in Raigad District, Maharashtra. It lies between Khopoli and Chauk, on the National Highway 4. Khalapur is about 80 km from Pune and 15 km south-east of Panvel.

The place serves as a suitable base for those venturing to the hills of Khopoli and Lonavala. Karnala Bird Sanctuary, Valvan Dam, Tungarli Lake and Shri Varad Vinayak at Mahad are some places of tourist interest around.

The nearest airport is Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Panvel Railway Station serves Khalapur.
