Tamil Nadu Express

Introduced in late 1970's, Tamil Nadu Express connects New Delhi and Chennai. This classic train is the fastest non-Rajdhani train in the country. It is known for its speed, punctuality, comfort and reliability. Now there is a Rajdhani Express running on the Chennai-New Delhi route, but the Tamil Nadu Express still remains very popular because of its higher speed at normal express train fares. Main towns on the way are Vijayawada, Warangal, Nagpur, Bhopal, Jhansi, Gwalior, Agra and Nizamuddin. The train covers a distance of 2,190 km.

Tamil Nadu Express is a limited-halt train with twin diesel engines. At first it was a tri-weekly train, but today it operates daily. It offers a wide range of accommodation such as first class A/C, 2 tier A/C, 3 tier A/C, sleeper cars and second class unreserved. There is a pantry car too.
