Arnala, 9 km from
Mumbai's
Virar railway station, is a small fishing town on the coast of
Arabian Sea in Thane District. Fish is supplied to
Virar, Agashi, northern Vasai and Mumbai. St Peter's Church is an important landmark of the town. Also, the picturesque beach can be enjoyed. There is an island near Arnala with the same name. This island is famous for a fort (the
Arnala Fort) built by the Muslim rulers of Gujarat and is just 10 minutes drive by boat. Bus and rickshaw services are available from Virar to Arnala.
