Amboli

Amboli is a serene hill station located at an altitude of 690 m. Amboli was developed as a hill station by the British political agent, Colonel Westrop, after the opening of the Ghat Road from the coastal town of Vengurla to Belgaum. It is the mountain resort nearest to the coastal plains.

Located in the southern range of Sahyadri hills, Amboli offers a view of numerous hills and fertile plains. The place gets an average of 750 cm of rain annually and is the wettest place in Maharashtra. The hill station is covered over with mist during rainy seasons. Tourists get an exclusive view of the Konkan coast from this hill station. Important tourist activities in the area include angling in the Hiranyakeshi, picnics at the Nagatta falls, and enjoyable visits to Mahadevgad and Narayangad.

Amboli has a cool and invigorating climate - a welcome respite in summer. Amboli is one of the few hill stations which offer a splendid view of the sea. By virtue of its location and beautiful landscape, Amboli is an ideal destination for those seeking a quiet holiday.
