Spotted Owlet (Athene brama) is a small squat owl and is gray brown above with white spots. It is pale below with dark barring. Its facial disk is bordered with white and has white 'eyebrows'. It is a nocturnal bird with yellow eyes.
The bird's size ranges from 19 to 21 cm. It resides in open or semi-open country including semi-deserts, cultivated areas and mango groves. The bird feeds on invertebrates, rodents, small birds and lizards. It nests in cavities in trees, walls and buildings.
