Panna National Park, situated in
Madhya Pradesh, is around 57 km from
Khajuraho. It is one of the best Tiger Reserves in the country.
Legend says that Pandavas spent a good part of their exile here in the forests of the park.
Spread over an area of 543 sq km, established in 1981, the park is covered with deciduous forests. Tiger, wolf, chital, sloth bear,
chinkara, and sambar are the major fauna found here.
The park provides tree houses and tourist lodges for visitors. The best period to visit the park is from January to May.
Nearest airport is at Khajuraho. Satna Railway Station, around 90 km, is the nearest railhead. The nearest bus stand is at Panna. Madla, 24 km south-west of Khajuraho, is a good transport center.
