Chhatarpur District is located in the north-east border of
Madhya Pradesh. It was named after the great warrior Maharaja Chhatrasa. Chhatarpur covers an area of 8,687 sq km with a population of 1.2 million. The major crops are
wheat, paddy and jowar.
The Ken and Urmal are the main rivers. Khajuraho, a world heritage center, is at present the second major attraction after the Taj Mahal. Panna National Park, which is the 22nd tiger reserve in India is worth visiting. Laundi, Maharajpur, Drongiri,
Rajnagar, Kengharial and Bijawar are the popular destinations. Best time to visit is from July to March.
