Tripuri is an ancient town situated 13 km to the west of
Jabalpur on the Bheraghat road. Old name of this town was Tewar. Archeological remains spread extensively over a vast area in the town. Tripuri was the site of the 1939 session of All India Congress, where Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was elected president. A gate (Kamania) was erected in the city to commemorate the event.
