Dewas District is situated on the Malwa plateau in the west-central part of
Madhya Pradesh. It has an area of 7,020 sq km. The population here is 1.3 million. Most of the people speak
Hindi.
Dewas is known for its cultural and colorful environment. The main cultural activities are ‘Malvi Songs’. Folk songs are also very popular on the occasion of marriages, festivals and local village fairs.
The main rivers are Konar, Jamner, Kali sindh, and
Narmada. Among them Narmada is one of the most sacred rivers in India. One of the major tourist attractions is Nemawar. There is a wide range of wild animals.
