Kavaratti is the administrative headquarters of
Lakshadweep Islands. The island features snow-white coral sands and calm lagoons. Situated on the western side of Kavaratti, the beautiful calm lagoons form an ideal spot for water sports, swimming and basking on warm sandy beaches. There are glass bottomed boats for viewing marine life.
Kavaratti’s major attractions include Dolphin Dive Center, and an aquarium with several colorful species of fish. Most of the inhabitants of Kavaratti are Muslims and speak
Malayalam. There are 52 mosques of which the most beautiful being the Ujra mosque. Mohidden Mosque is an ancient mosque situated in the north-western part of the island. The southern part of the Kavaratti is known as Chicken Neck Point. The area provides a number of activities such as kayaking, sailing yachts, canoeing, scuba diving and snorkeling.
