Thrikkur Rock Cave Temple

Thrikkur Rock Cave Temple is a beautiful ancient temple located about 10 km from Thrissur, near the serene Manali River. It is one of the largest temples of its kind. This Shaiva temple enshrines a 6 ft natural stone lingam inside it. The temple is dated prior to the 8th century AD. There is a large deep (oil lamp) in front of the temple. On the right of the temple is a large boulder and behind is a large Peepal tree, which is thought to have healing qualities.

Other deities installed here are Lord Ganesh, Ayyappa, Skanda or Lord Muruga, Parvati and a Shivlinga along with other bhutas and Ganas. Small idols of bhutas are installed on the small path that surrounds the temple.

Devotees mainly offer rice, coconuts and flowers, while some also offer rope - to symbolize the serpent.

Thrissur Railway Station is about 12 km away. Nearest airport is at Kochi (65 km).
