Thumba

Thumba, a site for launching sounding rockets at 8^o32' N 76^o52' E, is in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. It is around 12 km north of East Fort, the vibrant place in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram.

Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) is the major landmark here. A few kilometers away is Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) - the main research and development establishment of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Trivandrum International Airport serves Thumba. Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
