Sree Parashuram Temple is a 2000 year old temple located at
Thiruvallam in
Thiruvananthapuram on the banks of the Karamana river. It is the only temple in Kerala dedicated to
Sree Parashuram, the mythological creator of
Kerala. The temple is the spot for ancestral worship ('bali' ritual for departed souls). The devotees take a dip in the holy water and make offerings to the souls of the dear departed as a part of the ritual.
