Nagaswaram (Nadaswaram)

Nagaswaram or Nadaswaram is a member of the woodwind musical instrument family, popularly known as 'Mangala Vadya' or instruments played on auspicious occasions. A double reed wooden instrument with a conical bore, it is exclusively played in temples and during festivals. Its length is usually around 2 feet. It has seven finger-holes, apart from five additional holes at the bottom. When played, the instrument produces semi and quarter tones by the pressure and strength of the air-flow into the pipe.
