State Highway 13, K K Road as it is commonly known, is a 109.6 km long stretch that links
Kottayam on the
M C Road with
Kumily, near the
Kerala–
Tamil Nadu border, in
Idukki District.
K K Road starts at Kottayam and runs eastwards through Manarcad, Pambady and Vazhur to reach Ponkunnam. The Main Eastern Highway (State Highway 8) joins K K Road at Ponkunnam junction, overlaps and runs for 0.4 km, before leaving for its way to Pala to the north. The K K Road continues its way east and beyond Parathodu to enter Idukki District near Mundakayam. K K Road is around 50 km-long in Kottayam.
In Idukki, the K K Road passes past Pullupara and Kuttikkanam junction (from where the Peermade-Devikulam road branches left) and through Peermade, Vandiperiyar and Chettupara to finally reach Kumily, on the outskirts of Periyar Sanctuary. Kumily is also known as the gateway to Thekkady. K K Road has a length of about 60 km in Idukki District.
