St Thomas Church at Kokkamangalam,
Cherthala, (
Alappuzha District,) is one of the ancient churches in
Kerala. Established in 52 AD by St Thomas, the church houses a beautiful altar which bears the holy relics of St Thomas. With the special permission of His Holiness Pope John Paul II, these relics have been brought here from Edessa. Large number of devotees attend the feast of St Thomas which is held on the Sunday following Easter.
