Sengottai is a small town located on the
Kerala-
Tamil Nadu border. The municipality was formed in 1921 in Kerala and was later joined with
Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu.
Sengottai is a developing town and is 6 km from Tenkasi. Muthusamy Park and Mustafa Park are the recreation centers in the town. Kuttalam, Spa of South India, is near Sengottai. Manalar (7 km), a thick black forest, is on the Achenkoil-Sengottai road. Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary is 30 km away.
Nearest airport is at Thiruvananthapuram. Sengottai Railway Station is on the Virudhunagar-Kollam line. This narrow gauge line passes through a host of tunnels and the journey is entrancing. The town is on the Kollam-Thirumangalam(Madurai) highway (National Highway 208).
