The Vedas are the primary texts of
Hinduism and they exerted great influence on
Buddhism,
Jainism and Sikhism also. The Rig Veda, the oldest of the four
Vedas, was believed to be written by the Aryan's in 1500 BC.
Rig Veda is a collection of over 1,000 hymns in 10 books known as Mandalas. These hymns praise Agni, Dyaus Pitar, Indra, Prithivi Mater, Vishnu, Soma and other gods, persons, concepts, phenomena and other items. Most aspects of Vedic science such as yoga, meditation,
mantra and ayurveda can be seen in the Rig Veda.
According to the Rig Veda, the universe is infinite in size. It also divides knowledge into two groups, lower (related to objects) and higher (related to the perceiving subject.)
