Poonkavu

Poonkavu, also spelt Pungavu, is a small village situated on the outskirts of Alappuzha in Kerala. The place is easily accessible as the National Highway 47 cuts through the place.

Our Lady of Assumption Church, established in 1860, is a prime attraction here. Alappuzha Beach, Vayalar and Shri Karthyayani Temple are situated nearby.

Poonkavu is about 5 km from Alappuzha and 15 km south of Cherthala. Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport. Alappuzha Railway Station serves Poonkavu.
