Thrissur has three main bus stations - the Central Bus Station, Sakthan Thampuran Bus Station and North Bus Station. Long route and interstate buses starting from Central Bus Station are operated by Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC.) There are interstate bus services to
Bangalore,
Coimbatore,
Mangalore,
Mysore,
Pollachi and
Palani. The KSRTC Station is situated very close to the
Thrissur Railway Station. Sakthan Thampuran Bus Station (about 1 km from
Thrissur city), and North Bus Station operate private buses connecting
Kozhikode,
Palakkad,
Kasargod,
Malappuram and
Kannur.
The nearest international airport is Cochin International Airport (at Nedumbassery, about 78 km.) Vadakkumnathan Temple, Archeological Museum, Peechi Dam,
Cheruthuruthy and Cheraman Juma Masjid are easily accessible from the bus station.
Guruvayoor, one of the most sacred and important pilgrim centres of Kerala, is situated 29 km west of Thrissur. Hotel Merlin International, Trichur Towers and Hotel Luciya Palace provide lodging facilities near the bus station.
