Palayur Church is located at a distance of 28 km from
Thrissur on the Thrissur-
Guruvayoor route. It was established by St Thomas, the Apostle. The church has been upgraded to the status of archdiocesan in April 2000. Services include Sunday masses, muppittu njayar, novena at Thaliyakulam after the mass on all Tuesdays and baptism at Thaliyakulam.
The main entrance of the church is decorated with 14 granite life size statues of various scenes from the life of St Thomas. The jubilee door in front of the entrance to the main hall of the church portrays various important biblical events, carved in Burmese teak.
