Panchang
Panchang (also spelt Panchangam) is the traditional Hindu Vedic calendar. The name is made up of two Sanskrit words, 'panch' (five) and 'ang' (aspect.) A panchang is a complete astrological tool that provides details of the position of planets and stars. The five aspects are Vara (solar day), Tithi(lunar day), Nakshatra (star), Yoga (connection of planets) and Karana (half of a lunar day). Before any auspicious moment, it is customery for Hindus to consult the panchang. Modern panchangs include Gregorian (Western) calendar information also.
