Uzhavoor is a charming village situated 35 km north-east of
Kottayam in
Kerala. It lies to the east of
Kadanad and around 20 km north-west of
Pala. St. Stephen's College is a coveted educational institution here.
This rather unknown hamlet shot in to prominence following the ascendance of Mr.
K R Narayanan, who hails from Uzhavoor, in to the highest office of the President of India on July 25, 1997.
By road, the village is connected with Ramapuram, Vallichira,
Meenachil, Pala,
Thodupuzha and
Erattupetta. The nearest major railhead is
Kottayam Railway Station.
