Arikkod, also spelt Areacode, is a town in
Malappuram District of
Kerala. It lies on the banks of the
Chaliyar River, about 31 km north-west of
Manjeri. Areacode is bounded by Cheekode in the west, Urungattiri in the north, Kavanoor in the south and
Edavanna in the west.
The town is an important trade center of pottery and timber. The place also has historical background as it has witnessed some of the bloodiest scenes during the Malabar rebellion in 1921. The inscriptions on stone pillars at Kottathadayi and Amalathara reveal about this revolt.
Calicut Airport is the nearest airport. Kozhikode Railway Station is the closest major railhead. By road, Arikkod is linked with Kondotty, Nilambur, Kalikavu and Edavanna.
