Established in 1986, Archaeological Museum is located close to the
Mattancherry Palace, an oriental architectural delight in
Kochi. It showcases the portraits of the Cochin Maharajas, howdah, palanquins, dolls, swords, head gears, costumes and mural paintings of the 16th century onwards.
The museum also has a fine collection of coins, stamps and drawings depicting scenes from the Indian mythologies. It holds a well equipped library. Entry to the museum is free.
The museum is open from 10:00 to 17:00 hrs except on Fridays. Photography is allowed with permission.
Frequent bus and boat services are available from Ernakulam to Mattancherry. The ferries start from Main Boat Jetty near Subash Park at Ernakulam.
