Kumbalam is a beautiful island in
Ernakulam District,
Kerala. It lies around 3 km from Thirunethur and 11 km from Ezhupunna. The place is noted for its scenic beauty and calm atmosphere.
Nusrathul Islam Juma-ath Palli (also known as Kumbalam Juma-ath Palli) situated here is a major attraction. Madhumathi Marma Thirummukalari and Marma Treatment Center is situated here. Prakrti, a cultural and heritage research center functions here under the guidance of Pandit Gopal P. Dubey, the leading exponent of the ancient Indian dance theater form Seraikella chhau.
Realising the scope of tourism in this region, the central government had sponsored a project for the development of Kumbalam. Kumbalam is also noted for the turtle community inhabiting its waters.
