Cochin International Airport, the first international airport in the country outside the ambit of the Government of India, is a joint venture of Government of
Kerala, NRIs, traveling public, financial institutions and airport service providers. The state-of-the-art airport can handle any type of aircraft. The runway is 11,155 ft long and lies at an elevation of 25 feet.
Located at
Nedumbassery, the Airport is close to National Highway 47. The broad gauge rail line passing through Kerala is adjacent to the airport and it is situated between
Aluva Railway Station and
Angamaly Railway Station. The Cochin Sea Port is also situated close by.
The airport handles both domestic and international flights. The airport also offers three guest rooms for 24 hours on a tariff of Rs 750. The airport also has an excellent medical facility. Pre-paid taxi is available.
