Udyaneshwar Shiva Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated on the north-eastern side of lake Mandapan of Kochi Tirumala Devaswom Temple, Kochi. Earlier, the temple housed an 18 ft high Shivling. It is said that this shivling was reinstalled, after this place had been ransacked by the Dutch. The present shivling is visible only about four and half feet above ground level.
The historical inportance of Udyaneshwara Temple is in that the gigantic lingam of Lord Shiva in this temple belonged to an ancient shrine Trikkanna Mathilakam. Legend goes that the lingam was installed by Parashurama for the benefit of Namboothiris.
