Popularly known as S M Street, the Sweet Meat Street and its bylanes are the busiest shopping area in
Kozhikode city. The street got its name as a result of the presence of numerous sweet meat stalls. All stalls here are open up to 21:00 hrs. The bakery shops are acknowledged for the famous Kozhikode Halwa and banana chips.
Parsi Anju Amman Baug, the famous fire temple at the street dates back to the period when the Parsis, lured by the trade opportunities, settled in Kozhikode.
The KSRTC Bus Terminal and the Kozhikode Railway Station are within a short walk from the street.
