Located about 40 km from
Ernakulam on the
Vypeen Island, Cherai Beach is a swimmer’s paradise. If lucky, one might even spot a dolphin here. The newly decorated 400 m strip of the beach has a walkway and high mask lamps presenting marvelous sights at night. The nearby paddy fields and coconut groves add to the scenic beauty of the beach. The place is also famous for sea food and toddy.
There is a children's park on the beach. Water scooter and speed boats can be rented. Sree Gowreeswaram, the Shiva-Parvati temple founded by
Sree Narayana Guru is near the beach. A pooram is celebrated in the month of May.
Buses ply frequently from Vypeen to Cherai Beach. Cochin International Airport is 22 km from Cherai. Ernakulam Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
