Shiva sent this power to the earth. Due to his closeness to Mahavishnu, he is called as Vishnu Maya, as he was born in the woods he is called Chathan.

Thiravellattu Maholsavam, the main festival, is celebrated with pomp and fanfare. During the festival, the idol of the lord is adorned with colourful garlands and taken out in a spectacular procession. People carrying different musical instruments take part in the procession.
