Athirampuzha St Mary's Church, dedicated to Saint Mary is situated at
Athirampuzha, about 10 km north of
Kottayam in
Kerala. This church was built in 1080. Legend goes that the statue of St Sebastian installed here is one of the three statues brought by the Portuguese. This is known as 'adiyelpicha roopam (tortured figure),' representing St Sebastian as having been thrashed by his oppressors.
The annual feast which lasts for 5 days is celebrated here in honor of St Sebastian.
