Vaidyamadham is a Vaidyasala and nursing home located at Mezhathur in Trithala in
Palakkad District,
Kerala.
Established in 1912, Vaidyamadham comprises partially computerized production and sales units, where 700 varieties of medicines are manufactured and supplied. Also, there are a few preparations based on the formulae of Cheriya Narayanan Namboodiri, the chief physician. The outpatient section functions on all days except Tuesdays.
Set in a peaceful area, the nursing home has an inpatient department with eighteen rooms. An asylum for those with mental and physical ailments, traditional ayurvedic treatments including Panchakarma (five purification therapies) are offered at this place. Only one person is allowed to be with the patient. Generally, the nursing home does not admit patients during summer (mid-April to mid-June).
There is a landscaped herbarium where more than hundred species of medicinal plants and herbs are found. Traditional style cottages inside the herbarium are designed for tourists and others who wish to stay and undergo treatment.
Established in 1982, Vaidyamadham Valiya Narayanan Namboodiri Dakshinamoorthy Trust conducts cancer treatment camps every month. Medicines are supplied to the poor free of charge. The trust building has a cancer ward, research center, library and reading room and a conference hall.
