Peermade

Gateway to Thekkady



Peermade is a small hill station on the way to Thekkady. It is a fertile land at an altitude of 914 m. The place got its name from Peer Mohammad, a Muslim saint. This cool hill station is rich in rubber, tea, coffee, pepper and cardamom plantation, interspersed with waterfalls and open grasslands. This pleasant hill station was once the summer resort of the Rajas of Travancore. The lushy slopes of Peermade flanked with clouds drop attract scores of tourists. On a fairly warm day, the temperature varies between five and ten degrees celsius. Government guesthouse under the Department of Tourism, provides comfortable accommodation here.
