Changampuzha Krishna Pillai (1911-48) is one of the most popular poets in
Malayalam literature, loved and appreciated for his exquisite strain of lyricism. Belonging to the third generation of Romantics in Malayalam, Changampuzha epitomized romanticism. He wrote profusely and has 40,000 lines of verse collected in around 44 volumes. His works also include more than a dozen works in prose, a novel, and an essay of literary criticism, 'Sahityachinthakal.' Immensely well-read in world literature, especially poetry, Changampuzha translated many works into Malayalam.
Changampuzha is most noted for the pastoral elegy 'Ramanan' which sold over 100,000 copies, a record that still stands.
