Ballo Dance, a form of Giddha dance, is a traditional dance form of
Punjab. This dance is performed, after which the young brides return to the homes of their in-laws. In this dance, the girls form two rows facing each other. In the first row, the girls tie their dupattas on their heads, to represent men wearing the pagris, (the head dress worn by Punjabi men). The second row of women represent themselves, the newly-wed brides. This dance begins with bolis (Giddha songs), which express the relationship between the husband and the wife.
