Pallavoor




Located between Kullissery and Pallasena, Pallavoor is one of the prominent villages in Palakkad District of Kerala. Palakkad is to the north-east of the village.

A temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, can be seen in the vicinity. According to legends, the Shivling here was installed by Kara, a demon. A major draw is Ezhamvillaku, an annual festival, conducted by the Brahmins. It lasts for nine days. Another highlight is Porattukali, a folk drama depicting the lifestyles of different sections of societies.

This village is the birth place of prominent personalities such as P G Rama Iyer, a great Malayalam writer, and Pallavoor brothers (Edakka Appu and Thimila Manian).

Alathur to the south-east, Nemmara to the south, Putukkod to the west, Talur to the east and Kollengode to the north-east are among the major surrounding places.

Palakkad Junction Railway Station and Kollengode Railway Station are the nearest railheads. The nearby airports are Cochin International Airport and Coimbatore Airport. Regular bus service connects Pallavoor with Alathur, Palakkad and Nemmara.
