Visveswaraiah Technological University, established in 1998, is located about 13 km from Belgaum on
Belgaum–
Jamboti road.
With its jurisdiction spread throughout Karnataka, this university has four regional offices at Bangalore, Mysore, Gulbarga and Belgaum. Around 111 engineering colleges are affiliated to it.
The university offers five branches of Bachelors Degree and 54 branches of M Tech courses. Biotechnology courses has been introduced is introduced in 21 colleges. In addition, the university has MBA and MCA courses and also offers M Sc (engineering) by research and Ph D programs.
