Suggi Habba or Harvest Festival is an age-old festival celebrated by the farmers in the rural areas of
Karnataka. The festival usually falls on the Makara Sankranthi day.
On this day farmers go to the nearby river during the wee hours carrying food in decorated bullock carts. There they set up camps, wash the bullocks, take bath and offer prayers at nearby temples. If there are no temples in the vicinity, people make a
shivlinga from soil and perform puja and leave the place in the evening.
