Located in the southern part of
Bhatkal in
Shirali, the Shirali Mahaganapati Mahamaya Temple is one of the ancient temples in
Karnataka. The temple is believed to have been constructed by the ancestors of the Gowda Saraswath Brahmin families who shifted to Bhatkal about four hundred years ago. Today this temple conducts various
pujas including Shasraganayaga, Rathotsav, Ganahoma and Sahasrachandikahavana. It is considered as the family temple of the Konkani community.
