Keladi

Located in Shimoga District of Karnataka, Keladi is famous for its stone temples. This village was the first capital of Keladi Nayakas of 16th century.

A large courtyard is found at the northern end of Keladi. There are three temples named Rameshvara temple (in the center), Veerbhadreshvara temple (to the right) and Parvati temple (to the left) inside this courtyard. The first two temples are a blend of Hoysala and southern or Dravidian architectural styles and the third one has an old back portion built of stone. Keladi Museum, close to Rameshvara temple, houses copper inscriptions, palm leaves and coins of Nayaka period.

Keladi is around 80 km north-west of Shimoga and 6 km north of Sagar, an industrial town. Nearest airport is Mangalore Airport. Nearest railheads are Sagar Railway Station and Talguppa Railway Station.
