Maski is in Raichur district of
Karnataka, 80 km from
Raichur. Popular for prehistoric excavations, various rock inscriptions have been discovered here. Axes, hammers, urns, beads of amethyst and other semi-precious stones, conch-shell items, and metal jewelry, of the fifth to third century have been unearthed here. Copper ornaments and bone implements, inscriptions on copper, the earliest paintings of Karnataka were all among the artefacts found here.
