Situated on the Karnataka-
Tamil Nadu border, Hogenakkal Village is famed for its waterfalls. It is around 130 km south of
Bangalore and is located at the confluence of the
Cauvery and Chinnar rivers.
Hogenakkal means ‘smoking rock’- due to the fog and mist that surround the valley. Hogenakkal has a riverside spa well known for oil massage. The ride on the circular boats made out of bamboo and buffalo hide is a major draw. A nearby village of
Pennagaram holds a weekly fair.
Dharmapuri is around 46 km east. Salem Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Hogenakkal is connected by road to Dharmapuri, Salem and Bangalore.
