Originating from the
Western Ghats, the Bhadra is one of the important rivers that flows through
Chikmagalur District. Five sacred ponds including Kotiteertha, Rudrateertha, Ambateertha, Nagateertha, and Vasishthateertha are located nearby.
Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary got its name from the Bhadra river.
