Anshi National Park




Anshi National Park is situated at Anshi in Uttar Kannada District, Karnataka. It spreads over an area of about 250 sq km. The forest type is semi-evergreen with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The best time to visit the park is from November to June.

The park is home to elephant, gaur, wild boar, sambar, spotted deer, barking deer, mouse deer, common langur, bonnet macaque, slender loris, tiger, jungle cat, black panther, mongoose, wild dog, sloth bear, Malabar giant squirrel and the porcupine. The park also shelters a wide variety of birds including the great pied hornbill, Malabar hornbill and the Ceylon frogmouth. The common reptile forms found in the place are king cobra, python, rat snake, viper, and krait.

Anshi National Park is 580 km from Bangalore and the nearest railway station and airport are at Dharwad at a distance of 100 km.
