Belgaum




Belgaum lies in the north-western part of Karnataka and is 350 km north-west of Bangalore. It was earlier known as ‘Venugrama’ (bamboo village).

Belgaum houses the famous Kamal Basadi built in 1204. The other prime attractions in the city are Jamia Masjid, Kapileshwar Temple, Maruthi Temple, St Mary's Church, and Gokak Falls.

Belgaum is famous for its sweets and milk products.

Belgaum is close to the Maharashtra border and Panaji is around 100 km south-west of Belgaum.

Belgaum Airport is 10 km from the city center. Belgaum Central Bus Station connects the city with Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Goa, and Kolhapur. The National Highway 4 passes through Belgaum. Belgaum Railway Station is on the Margao-Sangli line.
