Surrounded by hills and lakes, Dharwad lies east of the
Western Ghats and is 420 km north of
Bangalore. Together with
Hubli - a city 22 km away - Dharwad forms a twin city. A famous educational center, Dharwad houses two renowned universities namely the Karnataka University and the University of Agricultural Sciences.
The Durgadevi temple, Someshwara temple and Mailara Linga temple are the notable landmarks of Dharwad.
