Folklore Museum is situated at the
Mysore University campus in
Mysore.
The museum houses nearly 6500 folklore articles. An amazing collection of carved wooden figures from Karnataka’s villages, rural costumes, utensils, ornaments, metal ware, implements and tools used in various rural professions are displayed here. Models of temples and houses, decorative masks, ceremonial headwear, and leather shadow puppets complete this unique museum.
Though small, it gives the visitor a clear picture about the cultural aspect of the villages of Karnataka.
The museum is open from 10:30 hrs to 17:30 hrs. Closed on second Saturdays and Sundays.
